A lot of us spent the better part of 2020 mostly at home – and many people around the world continue to do so. Considering that, it’s no wonder that wanderlust arises in many of us. If that sounds like you, the latest adidas collab with the National Park Foundation comes at just the right time.
The initiative with a over 100-year-long history is the official charity of the United States’ National Park Service (NPS) and its 418 national park sites. Among those are world-famous locations like Yellowstone, Crater Lake and Clacier National Park. Those three serve as the inspirations for three adidas ZX models that add some outdoor vibes to the classic runners. Dedicated to Yellowstone National Park, the ZX 8000 takes on colors that remind of the natural wonders that are Old Faithful and Grand Prismatic Spring. The ZX 9000 celebrates Glacier National Park in northwestern Montana, with grey and blue tones representing its mountainous landscape. Finally. deep blue and light green colors mimick the typical scenery of Oregon’s Crater Lake National Park.
All three sneakers use a mix durable cordura, smooth leather and suede on the uppers. In addition to a tongue label that features illustrations for the three parks, there’s another great little detail: Each shoe includes a printed map of its titular area printed on the insoles. So if you happen to get lost in one of the National Parks while wearing the respective ZX, taking of your shoes might be a good idea. By the way: Those that want to rock NPF aesthetics but are still too habituated to quarantine wear can resort to a special Adilette that also is a part of this collection.

Next to national parks, the NPF also aims to preserve historical sites across the United States. That’s why for example it purchased and offers tours for both the birth house and last home of Dr. Martin Luther King.
Release Details – National Park Foundation x adidas ZX Collection
The National Park Foundation x adidas ZX Collection launches on May 22, 2021. All three sneakers and the Adilette drop at retailers like asphaltgold. The ZX models go for 129 € each, while the Adilette retails at 39 €.
